Need a festive (and delicious) treat that is pretty simple to create and spreads instant holiday cheer!? How about Santa hat cupcakes!?
Today I’ve got a yummy recipe for red velvet cupcakes and cream cheese frosting, both using Truvia® Sweeteners. Plus, there’s a quick, easy, 3-step tutorial for how to turn them into everyone’s favorite jolly accessory! 😉
If you have older kiddos, this would be a great family baking project to do together, or make them on your own and surprise the littlest ones with your magic!
Check out the how-to below!
How To Make Red Velvet Cupcakes with Truvia® Sweet Complete™ All-Purpose Sweetener
It felt like a Santa themed cupcake simply had to be red velvet. Right!?
For this red velvet cupcake recipe, I used Truvia® Sweet Complete™, an all-purpose stevia sweetener that bakes and browns in recipes and sweetens and measures like sugar. It’s simply a 1:1 ratio, which makes it super easy to swap in to other recipes you want to try, too!
You can view the full recipe at the bottom of this post, but here’s what you’ll to make these red velvet cupcakes:
- All-purpose flour
- Cocoa Powder
- Baking Soda
- Salted Butter
- Truvia® Sweet Complete™ All-Purpose Sweetener
- Eggs
- Vanilla Extract
- Red Food Coloring
- Milk or milk alternative (I used a plant-based milk alternative)
- Distilled White Vinegar
For the cream cheese frosting (my favorite!), I used Truvia® Confectioners Sweetener. Similar to Truvia Sweet Complete™, it’s a stevia sweetener that sweetens and measures like traditional confectioners sugar in recipes! It’s great for frostings, glazes, etc!
Here’s what you’ll need to make this cream cheese frosting:
- Cream cheese
- Salted butter
- Vanilla
- Truvia® Confectioners Sweetener
- Red food coloring
How to Pipe Santa Hat Cupcake Frosting
First, you’ll need to separate out your frosting as you’ll need about 1/4 of your batch to remain white, and the rest dyed red!
You can use a large star tip or a regular round tip to pipe these – I used a star tip. If you don’t have a piping bag or any tips, you can also just use a plastic bag and trim the corner off!
Here’s how to pipe Santa hat cupcakes:
1. Start in the center of your cupcake and pipe the red frosting in a spiral motion, gradually narrowing the spiral as you move upward and end with a peak.
2. Pipe dots of white frosting around the base of your red frosting.
3. Finish the Santa hats with a dot of white frosting on top!

Perhaps we should leave cupcakes for Santa this year instead of cookies!? Another thought starter: use this same concept but with green frosting and turn them into Christmas trees!!!

Absolute 5 stars! These Santa cupcakes are really cute. Can I put CBD oils to it? I’ve read that CBD oil is very easy to use, so you don’t have to worry about cooking and dealing with any potentially dangerous chemicals. If you prefer to use your kitchen, you may want to choose CBD oil from Gold Bee it doesn’t require a high heat level to make it effective.
