It’s a classic for a reason! 🙂 I make this recipe in bar form all the time–it’s so much faster and easier plus I like cutting it into squares–as you say, they’re great for a cookie platter that way. (I would often make them ahead of time & freeze them, in pre-COVID times when I had people over). I also use a higher-quality chocolate, as I don’t like Nestle’s, & I have found I can decrease the amount (somewhat) & still have plenty of chocolate. I also use half white, half whole-wheat flour (as I do in most baking) to lessen my guilt a tiny amount.
