I’m going out on a limb here and calling statement earrings the jewelry/flair trend of 2017. I’ve seen SO many good ones come out in the last couple weeks and as a girl who doesn’t usually wear earrings, I’m gonna need to make a major lifestyle change because these are too good to pass up. Here are 15 of my fave colorful and crazy ones to check out!
No. 1 Let’s Dance Earrings | No. 2 Donut Earrings
No. 3 Blue Tassel Earrings | No. 4 Happy Pill Earrings
No. 5 Egg Earrings | No. 6 Colorful Abstract Earrings
No. 7 Gem Earrings | No. 8 Cactus Earrings
No. 9 Confetti Earrings | No. 10 Blue Drop Earrings
No. 11 Neon Burger Earrings | No. 12 Pom Pom Earrings
No. 13 Rainbow Earrings | No. 14 Banana Earrings
No. 15 Pink Tassel Earrings
I already own four of these. Hahaha! Troubleeee! So tell me, are you on board with 2017 being the year of the statement earring!? Do you wear earrings a lot?? (Oh, and if you have sensitive ears like I do and have found any brilliant solutions for that, help a girl out!!! I gotta get my earring on!)

I LOVEEEE these round-up posts where you post your favorite items of a category, because you have such great taste and I always like finding new shops/designers.
I forgot to write that in the survey so I thought Id share now :D.
<3 #6 & #9. So cute!

Thanks Carolina! I think I’ll be doing more round-up posts in the future, a few of you seem to really like them!!

Regarding earring that will not bother your sensitive ears, the cheapest route to go is always stainless steel. However, sterling silver posts or hooks should also be less irritating. Of course, pure precious metals like fine silver and solid gold would be the best, but these are not necessarily the best choices for earrings. (Plus, they aren’t as practical, given the extra cost. Finally, another choice which I have not tried personally are Niobium hooks. They are very price effective and I have heard some with very sensitive ears swear by them. All of these options are available if you are making your own earrings. If you are buying earrings from a maker, always inquire if they have any options for sensitive ears. Commercially, of course, stainless steel post and hooks are the most affordable and readily available- they will usually be labeled as “stainless steel.”

SO MUCH useful information! Thanks girl, I’ll look into all of these!

I’ve got fairly sensitive skin and I’m usually okay if I clean the earrings in hot salty water first, then coat the posts and everywhere that touches my skin with clear nail polish and leave it to dry. And I usually put a little bit of neosporin/antibiotic ointment on the post before I put it in my ear, to maximize the barrier between metal and my skin. Antihistamine/hydrocortisone cream would probably be good too!

I too have sensitive ears and what I do is just switch the hooks for sterling silver ones using pliers. You can buy them in bulk on ebay which are cost effective and won’t break the bank. I can’t wear stainless steel and gold just doesn’t suit me at all so I tend to always buy sterling silver earrings if I can ๐
Kelly says
Sterling silver seems to be the main consensus, I’ll have to try it!

AHHHHHHHHHHH!!! I’m cursing you (in a joking way) for this post right now. I’m earring obssessed–I think I bought three or four new pairs in December…. and I got three or four MORE pairs as gifts!!! Therefore, I’m not allowing myself to buy any more earrings… in January. ๐
Side note: I almost bought the stuff to make your confetti ones (obsessed) yesterday, but then I rememebered–no earrings! So, that will be in February!
Otherwise, great post! ๐
Kelly says
I definitely won’t tell you to break your no-spend month, BUT in you should definitely splurge a little in February! ๐

A trick that my sister and I do is to dip the post of the earring in neosporin (or something similar, maybe vaseline would work?) right before putting it on. I think it creates a barrier and maybe just adds a little extra moisture that keeps the ear happy. I also try to only wear non-gold earrings every other day (not two days in a row) to let my ears rest ๐
Kelly says
Oooooooo I haven’t heard that before. I’ve got to try that!
